History
Thai massage is an Ayurveda tradition dating back over 2,500 years ago. Dr. Jivaka Kumar Bhacca the personal physician of The Buddha (Siddhārtha Gautama) developed Thai massage. The practice incorporates the Buddhist concept of Metta in which one emulates the love and kindness of prefect enlightenment. During a traditional Thai massage, a practitioner will hold a state of Metta mediation for the session. The Metta state of a practitioner’s heart is equally as important as the massage itself.
What to expect
Thai massage is done fully clothed in comfortable clothing. Typical this bodywork is done on the floor using a floor mat. The practitioner will use their body weight to rock back and forth along the body then apply acupressure to Thai energy lines. Stretching is then applied after the energy blocks are removed to allow the prana (vital energy) to flow freely.
